E+ CLUB

The Hindu Education Plus (E-Plus) Club was launched by the management and the students of St. Joseph's College for Women on February 15, 2011. Over 120 students from various streams such as literature, home science and journalism joined hands to start four E-Plus clubs at the college.

Delivering the keynote address at the launch, Head of the Department of Home Science P.S. Annapurna emphasised the importance of communication skills for a successful career.

The inauguration was followed by a training session by The Launchpad. Dealing with creative thinking, Sangitaa Sehgall of Launchpad gave a clear understanding on how of boost creativity. The trainer pointed out that relaxation plays an important role in enhancing creativity. “Be aware of the activities that give you certain amount of relaxation. It could be painting, singing or music. Allot some time for those activities,” she said.

Sangitaa said that creativity is a mental skill and it can be developed with practice. Giving a few tips, she said, “Indulge in discussion with intelligent people, develop the habit of disagreeing with people on issues, ask questions, feed your innate curiosity and give yourself freedom to explore.”

In another session Shyla Kurma of Launchpad dealt with the subject of ‘on how to manage crisis'. She engaged the students through story telling technique and case studies to drive home the critical techniques of managing crisis.

The HoD of Hindi P.K. Jayalakshmi and chief mentor of the clubs Nivedita Antyakula addressed the students. The launch session was summed-up by HoD of Office Management D.A. Ramani with a motivational talk on how to maximise their potential during college days..
